Silver is Still Sweet

Well it was disappointing at first...but silver still is pretty sweet. The Senior Gators Volleyball Team had an excellent run at the 2A provincial championships that was stopped just short. The team was defeated by JH Picard from Edmonton 23-25 and 19-25 in the gold medal match. The boys cruised through much of the tournament finishing the round robin with a record of 10-1 and clinching a bye into the semi-final with a first place finish in Pool D. The boys sent a message early that we were a force to be reckoned with defeating the host St. Dominic 25-7 and 25-8. Christ the King Chargers fell 27-29, 25-17 and 15-12, Thorsby Sabres 25-11 and 25-15, Peace River 25-13 and 25-17, and Kitscoty 25-14 and 25-15. Rundle College was next in line in the semi-final match and the Gators prevailed 25-23, 18-25 and 15-6. Picard proved to be too much in the final but given another opportunity to play them I am sure that result would be different.

In the end the boys had a record of 21-1 (matches) and 42-5 (sets) vs 2A schools. We won 2 tournaments and finished second in 4 others. Our total record of sets for the entire year was 90-33.

It has been a blast coaching this group of young men...some for as long as six yers, all others for at least 4 years. Thanks for the memories guys.....
